Customer Reviews: Average Rating:

Rating : - Not up to Cuisinart Standards
I bought this ice cream machine because I wanted a small, lightweight maker that had a removable bowl. I have a high-end ice cream maker from Simac that's held up for over 20 years (it was over $400 at the time), but I wanted something that was easier to clean, larger capacity, and lighter.

I knew that this was a bowl that needs to go into the freezer, which is how every ice cream maker under $100 works, but I figured that an $80 Cuisinart would do it better than a $40 no-name. Most of the time, Cuisinart delivers; this is not one of those times.

I really wanted it to work, and I gave it two chances. The first time it came out half-liquid, I thought that I did not freeze the bowl enough, even though the core was frozen solid. The second time was no better, and I left the bowl in the freezer for a whole day. Both times, I wound up finishing the ice cream in the old Simac, which worked like a charm.

If you really are serious about making ice cream, don't waste your money on a freezer-bowl model. The top of the line in that category still isn't worth its weight in ice cream.
