I am gearing up for knee surgery and bought this item to help me in the shower. It clamps easily to the tub and is very sturdy. I like the fact that I do not have to install a permanent rail in my limited tub/shower space. An added advantage that I did not expect is that I can adjust the position of the bathtub bar in such a way that it will also help me to get up from the toilet, eliminating the need to buy toilet safety rails.
