| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: Rating : - Works well, but directions could be better I purchased the portable model to use at home and to take camping. The alarm system, when using the S.A.M.E. technology works great, but the trick is setting it up to do so. The directions are not as "fluid" as they should be when setting up the alerts, so maybe this will help.
Each county within a state can have multiple radio stations that broadcast the signal. Keeping in mind you have a max range of about 40 miles, unless you are in dense city conditions, choose the city that's close to you and enter the S.A.M.E code for that county. ( I also added the adjacent county which all the storms seem to pass through first). Now you have to select the correct channel 1-7, to match the stations frequency to the city you have chosen. the directions give you the frequency to channel match and the website link provided gives you the frequency to use for your city. One last hint: If you don't want to be woken up by alarms half way across your state, disable the ALL setting. You can do this by clicking the "county" button, the ALL appears, and use one of the volume keys to make it ----, and your set. If you don't you will end up like me in a Sylvester the cat pose hanging from the ceiling when it goes off in the middle of the night. Only other improvement that I wish they would make is the warning light LED. It's green when calm and red when there is a warning. Unless you are in a dark room, you cannot see the color of the blinking light. + See Full Customer Review | |
