| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: Rating : - Evaluation of Seiko QHR008SLH bed side alarm clock Serious design flaws make this alarm clock a waste of consumer money. Its high price implies quality but it's barely functional, although it does look good in print
The face cover is too reflective, acting like a mirror, so it's difficult to read in a lit room. Light coming through a window over my bed makes even the large numbers impossible to read. With my head on the pillow I had to rotate it to an odd angle to minimize the reflections and read it.
The LCD face has a limited viewing angle. I tested it on my night-stand with my head on the pillow. In a dark room, with its backlight on, the clock face was blank because of the viewing angle. I had to prop up on my elbow to see the time or tilt the clock with a 1 1/4 inch (3 cm.) thick book to put the face at a readable angle.
The snooze alarm only rings twice before it shuts off. The seconds display is distracting and the snooze on, alarm on, AM and PM logos are not easy to read.
Finally it is not an atomic clock. It contains a small radio receiver tuned to one station. Once a night it is synchronized to a station sending a signal from an atomic clock. All atomic clocks are really Radio Synchronized clocks. But, Atomic Clock looks good in print.
There are some good design features, but, the flaws overwhelm them. + See Full Customer Review | |
