Rating : - Imitation of the Tree
If you have never heard of Porcupine Tree, you will probably love this album. The songs are well written, crafted, played, and recorded. However, it has all been done before. This a clone of the Brit crossover/prog band Porcupine Tree. If you are already a fan of PT and want some more of the same to hold you over til the next cd, pick this up. Telephone vocals? Check! Fuzzbox guitar distortion? Check! Mellotron/spookyily-eerie keyboards? Check!Weird samples? Check! Steven Wilson-esque sound alike doing vocals? Check! Engage the imitation-is-the-best-form-of-flattery drive!!! Don't get me wrong: These guys can play and sing, but the originality is just not there-maybe next time! If they find their own voice, they will be someone to watch in the future.
