 | | | | Customer Reviews: Average Rating: Rating : - Cream of the crop of 3rd Season! This is probably my favorite boxed set of the series' high points of Season 3 up to this moment. In it is the crazily-paced and funny episode "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'", with old comic actor Charles Nelson Reilly playing the investigative author, Chung. Scully is interviewed by Chung about a strange incident that leads to other strange incidents involving alien abductions and subsequent military cover-ups; remarkably, all the sources for Chung's upcoming book never agree on what really happened. Minnesota residents and fans of "Jeopardy" will enjoy the cameos of pre-guv Jesse Ventura and Alex Trebek as men in black! The two-part episodes, "Piper Maru" and "Apocrypha", find Mulder and Scully investigating the eerie fate of a French naval crew who show the effects of radioactive scorching after finding the wreck of a World War II-era fighter plane. Mulder meets up with old nemesis Alex Krycek while investigating further in the Far East. "Wetwired" is a fine stand-alone episode about the Cigarette-Smoking Man's experiment with mind control using the medium of television. Scully finds herself under the effects of the manipulated cathode ray, and she almost takes out Mulder while in the throes of uncontrollable delusions. "Pusher" is a classic episode pitting Mulder against a man who has the ability to make people do his will just by "getting into their heads". "Talitha Cumi" is a season-ender that introduced Jeremiah Smith, a possible alien-human hybrid who makes himself too noticeable to the world through a miraculous healing, in the eyes of the Syndicate. Mulder once again confronts the Alien Bounty Hunter, who seeks out Smith in order to silence him. Of course, the ever-present evil of the Cigarette-Smoking Man is also apparent, and does he ever have an interesting view of the American public, one which reveals a lot of truth. Creator Chris Carter should be well proud of his creation during this particular season's selections. They were the highlight of a very successful show. + See Full Customer Review | | | | |
